The end of the East Coast adventure

Hello everyone, it's been a while since our last blog so we thought we had better update you on what we've been up to.
We are currently in Cairns at the end of our east coast adventure. We fly to Perth later today for a few days before leaving Oz behind for our time in Asia.
So, what have we been up to......well......a lot of the time we have been getting to grips with nature. We've encountered spiders, kangaroos, koalas, cane toads, tree frogs, jellyfish, lizards, crocs, tropical fish and a multitude of bloody annoying beasties that bites, sting and eat you alive while you sleep. Apart from that...we've been having a great time. Seriously though, the wildlife has been amazing. We spent time on Fraser island, Daydream Island (absolute heaven), Hamilton Island and Whitehaven Beach in The Whitsundays and were out at the Barrier Reef on Saturday snorkelling with all manner of marine life. The weather in general has been pretty wet....actually very wet. I think if we were to visit Queensland again we would do it not in their monsoon season. That said, the downpours have been pretty spectacular and entertaining. We've never seen so much water fall in such a short space of time. Of course, with the dampness comes bugs and worst of all unbelievable humidity. It's a case of 'you move...you sweat'!!! We have finally come to terms with it just in time for us to make the long flight to the west coast where it should be dry and warm. Suppose the humidity training will stand us in good stead for Thailand however.
We are now looking forward to a little more luxurious accomodation as Ivor has finally piddled through our campervan for the very last time!!!! It's all hotels from here on...and with hotels comes air con and cable telly (Phil really does have square eyes).
It has been noted that the updates from home have dried up somewhat and WE ARE NOT HAPPY CAMPERS. We are looking forward to Jane coming home from Mexico as we can always rely on her for a laugh....or at the very least a few dental tales.
Anyway, time is money and all that so we will say farewell from now and the next time you may hear from us we will be in Thailand.
We are putting on a few on our latest phots for your general amusement and hilarity. We hope you are all well in chilly England.
All our love and best wishes

Fraser Island for Valentines Day

Hi people....
Just a very quick post to let you all know that we are both well and still having a FAB time. Spent my birthday on Fraser Island all day today. It's the world's largest sand dune. Pretty huge actually at about 120km lond and 20km wide. It's been a fun day even though the weather has been pretty ropey for the past few days. Heavy thunderstorms and tropical cyclones. Fingers crossed for it to improve by the time we reach Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays in a couple of days. It's a long drive tomorrow (about 5 hours to Rockhampton (Rocky)) and then an even longer one the next day to Airlie....about another six hours. At least by the time that's done we'll be within striking distance of Cairns. Only about 600km to go then over the following week. Anyway....said it would be short as we are off out to a French restaurant for a birthday tea. Really looking forward to a treat out. They apparently do amazing Beef Wellington and dreamy chocolate souffle. Yum! Anyway...Fiona should be done doing her hair by now so I suppose I'd better crack on and get what's left of my flowing locks in order.
We promise to post more pictures by the weekend

Love to all
