We love the Michelin man and woman impressions, what a pair of fashion leaders you both are!!!! Glad to know that you have arrived safely in Perth. We haven't yet heard anything more from our newly found Aussie relative in Perth,so we can't give you any contact info yet. Glad you are still having a great time despite the downpours and bugs. In your beach cricket photo, I guess Goughie was out of the frame?? You needed a roller on the wicket though. Mum wants to know how old the other players were. It's much the same as usual here, although we have become addicted to the genealogy and it's taking up nearly all our time. Many of Mum's relatives come from a village called Stevington, near Bedford and we plan to go there on Friday to search through the graveyard and parish records, looking for 'clues'. Weather here has been drier in the last couple of days, with sunshine today, but very windy again. Did you see the Carling Cup final? What a match and aftermath! I see Arsenal also lost to Blackburn in the Cup and Luton to Norwich, they look to be in deep Doo-Doo now. Ben loved his birthday pressies and both Ben and Alex, their koala adoptions. My thanks for your thoughtfullness. I know Jo & and Rob really appreciate it. Anyway, Mum's gone off to, belatedly, do the ironing and I need to make the coffee. Lovely to hear from you - love to you both Mum and Dad xxxx
glad u r still having a wonderful time. hope the diving was good! Sam has just got his 50m swim badge and Ben 5 - so its all excitement here in the household. off to the sow and pigs tomorrow for a work reunion with andy col etc so looking forward to that. love claire sam and ben
Hi de hi campers - I'm back after a fantastic two weeks in Xcaret, Mexico. The whole of Xcaret is an ecological area so it was like being dropped into 5-star luxury in the middle of a jungle! There was more wildlife than you'd get at Whipsnade zoo with loads of Iguanas, pelicans, fish, birds, furry things (Kev thinks they were monkeys but they looked more like raccoons!), beautiful butterflies the size of flying handkerchiefs and loads of other stuff but thankfully nothing too creepy-crawly! We even had Dinky Derek (a little gecko) living in our room much to Kevs annoyance though as it meant I kept turning the a/c off so he didn't get too cold!
The hotel was fantastic and was set in about 22 acres of jungle. Kev was still getting lost in the grounds at the end of 2 weeks and it took us three days before we actually found all the swimming pools! The obvious downside though was the food... Oh my god, it was amazing!! Believe it or not, Kev was eating 3 deserts a day - that's more than he had in the whole of 2006!! I tried really hard to be good but it didn't last long. Each morning at breakfast you'd get a 3-tier cake stand on your table laden with lovely danish pastries and muffins. After filling myself up on low fat yoghurt, fruit, seeds, smoothies etc. I would then stuff myself with cakes!! How can I have so little willpower?!?!
Anyway we had a great time and I only managed one little 'dental incident' while I was away when I managed to break one of my teeth while brushing them - don't ask me how I managed that! Needless to say I'll be booking up my weekly dental appointment again tomorrow -he's seriously going to think I fancy him!
Its great to see all the updates on your blog and I have to confess, I did stifle a little giggle at Phils 'camel' comments. Obviously it wasn't at all funny Fiona so I don't know why I laughed...?!
Anyway flashpackers, its great to be back online and blogging with you again.
